Hello!

IMG_6164.png

I’m Elly, a freelance journalist with more than a decade of experience writing for some of the world’s top trade and consumer publications.

Over that time, I’ve focused on hospitality, interviewing world-renowned architects, Michelin-starred chefs and the owners and operators of the most celebrated hotels and resorts around the world. From regenerative tourism to river cruising, there’s unlikely to be a hospitality trend I haven’t examined. My hospitality clients include The Caterer, Hotel Management International, Sleeper Magazine and Hotel News Now.

I’ve been working remotely since 2011, an adventure that’s taken me to Bali, Thailand, Ibiza, Sri Lanka, Laos, New York, New Zealand and many other destinations. I’ve spent years in some and days in others, writing stories for BBC Travel about everything from the

world’s best Pad Thai to the Portuguese village that tamed a 100-foot wave and lifting the lid on the reality of the digital nomad lifestyle – the highs and lows – for clients like Stylist and Fast Company.

Prior to going freelance, I was a features writer for more than a dozen trade magazines across industries including hospitality, finance, energy and healthcare, before becoming editor of four healthcare publications. I continue to write across a range of subjects, from innovations in wind turbine design to cutting-edge cancer research and pretty much everything in between.

Alongside my journalism work, I have produced white papers, thought leadership pieces and marketing materials for many high-profile clients, including Access Hospitality, Ambach and the British Hospitality Association.

After years on the road, I’m now firmly settled in a beautiful fishing village in Portugal, where, when I’m not tapping away at my laptop, you’ll probably find me on a long walk by the Atlantic Ocean, curled up with my Kindle or sipping a local Alvarinho.
